Softball Grizzilies Finish Perfect at Home

The Softball Grizzlies faced off against the Pembroke Spartans today at home in the NHIAA Quarterfinal round. For the second game in a row, Seniors Emma Campbell and Anna Strong combined efforts in the win. Campbell and Strong issued 6 strikeouts only allowing 3 hits and 1 walk to the Spartans. Goffstown's offense was fired up again with a home run from Junior Alyssa Lombardi as well as a triple to right field from Senior Makayla Fleming. The Grizzlies would also have doubles from Juniors Megan Purcell and Taylor Gagnon. Goffstown went on to win the game 9-0 completing an undefeated season at home. The Lady Grizzlies advance to the NHIAA Softball Final Four Semi-Final round next Wednesday at Southern NH University.
Softball Meet the Coaches Night

The 2016 Softball "Meet the Coaches Night" for JV & Varsity will be held next Wednesday, April 6th starting at 6:00pm in the GHS Step Room. The event will include player & parent expectations for the season, program information and a presentation by the Grizzlies Softball Boosters.

Softball Grizzlies Belt Their Way into the Quarterfinals

The softball Grizzlies opened up the post season today at home facing the 15 seeded Oyster River Bobcats. Seniors Emma Campbell and Anna Strong split the mound duties combining to issue a one hitter that included five strikeouts and a walk. Additionally the Lady Grizzlies had outstanding defense, the most notable was a double play in right field by Senior Nicole Andersen to shut down a rally attempt by Oyster River. Clearly the story of the day was the Lady Grizzlies high powered offense against last years Division II, Softball Pitcher of the Year Kaitlyn Miller. Some of the offense included four singles by Junior Alyssa Lombardi, two doubles by Junior Amber Davis, a double and a single by Andersen, as well as a two run home run by Junior Taylor Gagnon. Goffstown would go on to win the game in a run rule in the bottom of the 5th inning when Junior Megan Purcell hit a walk off three run home run for the win. Goffstown advances to the quarterfinals this Saturday at home against Pembroke Academy.

Lady Grizzlies Win 11 Inning Battle

The Lady Grizzlies won on the road today in an 11 inning battle at Pembroke Academy. Senior pitcher Anna Strong had the mound for the first 7 innings, striking out 5 and walking 4. In the 8th, Senior pitcher Emma Campbell took over the mound and continued the fight for Goffstown. The Grizzlies thought they had the game in hand in the 9th when Junior Alyssa Lombardi started off the inning with a double, followed by a walk from Senior Nicole Andersen. Lombardi and Andersen were later driven in by Senior Olivia St. Jean on a two out double to put the Grizzlies up 6-4. At the bottom of the inning Pembroke Academy tied the game 6-6. Both teams played on until the 11th when Lombardi doubled for the second time in the game. Lombardi was then driven in by Andersen who doubled as well. The grizzlies added insurance when Junior Megan Purcell was hit by a pitch and then driven in by Junior Amber Davis. Campbell and the defense went on to shut down Pembroke Academy at the bottom of the inning and earned a 9-6 win. The Lady Grizzlies will be back on the road tomorrow at Lebanon.

Softball Comes Up Short At Windham

The Lady Grizzlies began a 4 game road trip today against the undefeated Windham Jaguars.Senior Emma Campbell had the mound holding Windham to only 3 runs on 7 hits in another solid pitching performance. The Grizzlies offense finally got onto the score board in the 3rd inning when Junior Taylor Gagnon scored on a double by Senior Makayla Fleming. Seniors Olivia St. Jean and Nicole Andersen had strong singles in the game as well as a double by Junior Megan Purcell. Goffstown would go on to add another run in the 6th, when Junior Alyssa Lombardi hit a solo home run. The Lady Grizzlies ultimately came up short in the 7th inning stranding the tying run on the base. The Lady Grizzlies will be back on the road Wednesday against Pembroke Academy.
PRESEASON MEETING

There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 9th immediately after school in room 314 for all athletes interested in Softball. Softball Grizzlies Win

The Lady Grizzlies returned to work today at home against Hanover. Junior Kaylee Chouinard pitched the 5 inning run rule contest helping Goffstown earn its 12th win of the season. Chouinard only allowed one hit, one walk while issuing six strikeouts in the game. The Grizzlies offense got to work early in the game and exploded in bottom of the 4th inning with a grand slam by Senior Anna Strong. The Lady Grizzlies are back to work again tomorrow to start a 4 game road trip into next week.

GHS SOFTBALL TRYOUT INFORMATION
TRYOUT DATES: March 21st, 22nd, 23rd Fielding and hitting evaluations will take place in the GHS Main Gym from 3pm – 6pm. Additionally anyone interested in trying out as a pitcher or catcher will be evaluated from 6pm-7pm in the back gym after fielding and hitting. Players who are not trying out for pitching or catching WILL NOT be required to attend the pitching catching portion of the tryout. March 24h is tryout selection day. Players must be present to receive their results from the tryout. Any player unable to attend selection day will need to notify the evaluators/coaches prior to March 24th.
SOFTBALL REGISTRATION: Players must register for softball tryouts through the GHS Athletics website ASAP. Players that do not register will not be eligible to tryout.
EQUIPMENT: Players are expected to bring a fielding glove, Bat, helmet, good sneakers, plenty of water and wear proper clothing at tryouts. Players are not allowed to wear ASA, All Star, Babe Ruth or Softball tournament shirts or apparel at tryouts. The only exception will be batting helmets. Players may wear any approved batting helmet at tryouts. Players may also wear GHS Sports shirts/gear.

Softball Grizzlies Win in the 8th!

The Lady Grizzlies hosted St. Thomas Aquinas today at home. The game opened up with moving first pitch ceremony to help raise money former Grizzly family who has a loved one battling the disease ALS. The game would go on to be a outstanding defensive display that included a classic pitching duel between Grizzlies Senior Emma Campbell and St. Thomas Sophomore Abbey Bass . St Thomas would go on to collect 17 strikeouts and hold the high powered grizzlies offense to only 3 hits in the game. Campbell had 6 strikeouts and came up big when the Grizzlies needed it in the game. The contest was scoreless in the 8th inning until Junior Taylor Gagnon hit a triple to center field to lead off the extra inning. Two batters later Junior Alyssa Lombardi would execute a perfect bunt to score Gagnon from 3rd for the win. The grizzlies record improves to 11-1 and will be back at home on Thursday against Hanover.

National Federation of High School Sports Memorandum From: Sandy Searcy, Director of Sports and Officials Subject: Certified Bats The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA)/USA Softball, in working with Easton Baseball/Softball Inc. (Easton), recently announced that Easton is voluntarily removing the following softball bat models from the ASA/USA list of certified bats: SCN1, SCN11BH, SCN1B, SCN2B, SCN3, SCN4B, SCN5, SCN5B, SCN6B, SCN7, SCN7B, SCN8, SCN8B, SCN9, SCX14, SCX14B, SCX24B, and SCX3. The NFHS Softball Rules Book specifically states that the bat must contain the 2000 or 2004 ASA certification mark and NOT be on the ASA non-approved bat list. Therefore, these bats are no longer permitted in NFHS contests. NFHS Rule 1-5-1d is listed below for your convenience. Rule 1-5-1d The ball shall: d. Meet the 2004 ASA Bat Performance Standard, bear either the 2000 or 2004 certification mark and not be listed on the ASA non-approved bat list as found on http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Softball.aspx. Softball Grizzlies Honor Veterans on OHT Day

The Lady Grizzlies were joined by members from the American Legion Post 16 and the Women's Auxiliary Unit 16 of Goffstown to honor our veterans today for Operation Hat Trick. The Grizzlies would go on to earn their 10th win of the season in the 5 inning run rule contest. Senior Anna Strong and Sophomore Sloane French combined in issuing 10 strikeouts, 3 walks and no hits in the game. For the offense, Senior Nicole Andersen, Junior Alyssa Lombardi and Junior Megan Purcell all had doubles. Lombardi had the biggest hit of the game with a two run Home Run in the 2nd inning. The Lady Grizzlies will be back at home on Wednesday against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Lady Grizzlies Pull Through in 7th

The Lady Grizzlies move to 8-1 today pulling off a win in the 7th inning at home against Hollis Brookline. For the second day in a row, Senior Pitchers Anna Strong and Emma Campbell struck out 8 batters in a game that would end up going into the 7th tied at 6. The Grizzlies offense was led today by Junior Alyssa Lombardi who had a single, double and a triple. In the 7th a lead off walk by Junior Amber Davis followed by a past ball would move Davis to second base. Senior Emma Campbell then moved Davis to third base on a text book bunt. Davis would eventually go on to win the game by scoring on a past ball. Goffstown will be back on the road tomorrow at West.
Softball Grizzlies Offense Stalls in Milford

The Lady Grizzlies lost their first game of the season 8-3 on the road today against Milford. Senior Pitchers, Emma Campbell and Anna Strong combined to issue 8 strikeouts in the game. Goffstown would jump out an early lead scoring 3 runs, but were unable to hold off Milford's offense in what became a six run 4th inning. The Lady Grizzlies offense had 9 hits and 4 walks in the game which included doubles by Sophomore Kara Lendry and Junior Alyssa Lombardi. However they were unable to capitalize and ended up stranding 10 base runners in the eventual loss. The Lady Grizzlies will be back at home tomorrow against Hollis Brookline.

Softball Grizzlies Bats Come Alive in Conval

The Lady Grizzlies improve to 7-0 on the road today in Conval. Senior Anna Strong and Sophomore Sloane French pitched the Grizzlies to another run rule win in the 5th inning. Goffstown's offense was the story of the game earning 12 hits including outstanding plate appearances by Senior Emma Campbell, Junior Alyssa Lombardi and Junior Taylor Gagnon. Most notable offense of the day was back to back home runs by Junior Melissa Mullen who had a three run homer and Junior Kate Misiorski with a solo shot. The Lady Grizzlies will be back at home on Monday against Hollis Brookline.

The Lady Grizzlies improved their record to 5-0 on the season with a 2-0 win on the road today at Oyster River. Senior Emma Campbell had a strong performance on the mound striking out 9 Oyster River batters. Throughout the game the Lady Grizzlies offense was held off by last seasons DII Pitcher of the Year, Caitlyn Miller of Oyster River. The first score in the game would finally come from a lead off walk by Senior Nicole Andersen in the 4th inning. Andersen went onto score after Senior Jasmine Colon drove her in from third base. The Grizzlies would go on to add one more run in the 5th inning by with a lead off home run by Junior Taylor Gagnon. Goffstown will be back at home on Thursday against Lebanon.

The Lady Grizzlies hit the road today winning 17-0 at Hanover. Senior Anna Strong had the mound throwing a one hitter in the 5 inning run rule contest. Strong would go onto strikeout 7 and walk 4. For the third game in a row the Lady Grizzlies offense was impressive which included doubles by Senior Jasmine Colon, Junior Megan Purcell and Sophomore Kara Lendry. Most notable at bat of the game was a 2 RBI triple by Senior Nicole Andersen in the first inning to score to Senior Makayla Fleming and Junior Alyssa Lombardi. The Lady Grizzlies will be back to work at home on Friday vs. John Stark.

The lady Grizzlies won their second game in a row today at home, beating Pembroke Academy 7-6. Senior Emma Campbell earned the win striking out 5 and only allowing one walk in the 7 inning contest. The Lady Grizzlies battled with the lead through out the game until the 6th inning when Junior Taylor Gagnon went yard with a 2 run home run to tie the game. Campbell went on to shut down Pembroke Academy's offense in the 7th. The Grizzlies lead off the bottom of the 7th with a huge double by Junior Alyssa Lombardi, who would go on to score from second base on a text book bunt from Senior Jasmine Colon. The lady Grizzlies will be on the road next Wednesday at Hanover.

The Lady Grizzlies opened up the season with a solid 18-6 win at home today vs.Trinity. Junior pitcher Kaylee Chouinard threw the 5 inning contest, striking out 5 hitters. The story of the day was the Grizzlies offense which included 12 hits and 6 walks through the 5 inning run rule game. Most notable of the day was a double and a 3 Run home run in the first inning by Junior Taylor Gagnon, followed by a double and a triple by Junior Alyssa Lombardi, as well as double by Junior Megan Purcell. The lady Grizzlies went on to add a solo home run in the 3rd inning by Senior Makayla Fleming. The Lady Grizziles are back at home tomorrow against Pembroke Academy starting at 4pm.
