Two GHS Track and Field athletes competed on Saturday against the best from all divisions in New Hampshire at the State Meet of Champions at Wildcat Stadium in Durham.
Senior Sean Leahy placed fifth in the 400 meters, running the second fastest time of his career, and qualifying for the New England Championship Meet. Sean added an eighth place in the long jump and a 16th place in the 100 meter dash. In addition, Sean was awarded the prestigious Rick Nagy Book Award by the New Hampshire Track & Field Coaches Association.
Freshman Peyton Strickland again performed at a high level. He was the only freshman in the state to qualify for this event, and threw 123'9" good for tenth place, and his third best throw of the season.

A small group of GHS athletes competed in the Londonderry Invitational against athletes from 23 schools.
The highlights of the day were:
Sean Leahy breaking the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 50.63 seconds. This performance makes Sean the number one seed entering the DII State Meet.
Peyton Strickland threw the discus 130'6" an outstanding toss for any thrower and particularly for a freshman.
Excellent performances were turned in by all competitors:
Caden Perry in the 100 meters
Will Sasso in the 110 meter hurdles, and 300 meter hurdles
Paige Armstrong and Steph Flegal in the 100 meter hurdles
The 4x100 meter relay team of Justin Kaminski, JonahLopez, Caden Perry and Sean Leahy, who ran their best time of the season.

GHS Track & Field had an excellent day at the State DII Meet.
Before the meet even began Sean Leahy was names to the Division II All-State team as a result of his excellence throughout the season.
Sean Leahy led the way with third place finishes in both the 400 meter run and the Long Jump. His jump was his first time over 20 feet this season. Sean also anchored the 4x100 meter relay team to a season's best time.
Peyton Strickland placed third in the Discus Throw with his second best throw of the season.
The 4x100 relay team of Justin Kaminski, Jonah Lopez, Caden Perry, and Sean Leahy finished 8th.
Caden Perry made the finals of the 100 meter dash, finishing eighth overall.
D'Caury Shapleigh triple jumped his way to the finals finishing seventh.
Finally Will Sasso ran his season's best time in the 300 meter hurdles to finish tenth in the state.
Peyton, D'Caury, and Will each were the highest placed freshmen in DII in their events.

Fourth Annual Home Meet with Windham
Our sincerest thanks to the many volunteer officials, as well as the “Goffstown Hurdle Crew” and all of the athletes and coaches from Windham and Goffstown, who consider this meet to be a highlight of our track and field season!
Great performances across the board; Sean Leahy set a new school record in the 100 meter dash, Caden Perry qualified for the DII championship meet in the 100 meter dash, and Will Sasso qualified for the DII Championship meet in the 110 meter hurdles. The team recorded an amazing 100 season’s best performances in this meet.

The GHS Track & Field Team competed with over 40 schools at the Merrimack Valley Invitational on Saturday, April 20th.
The outstanding performer of the day was senior Sean Leahy, who raced to victory in the featured event of the day the 400 meter dash. Sean took home a gold medal and a plaque commemorating his win. Sean also placed fourth in the long jump, and anchored a seventh place finish in the 4x100 meter relay.
Freshman Peyton Strickland PRed in the discus with a throw of 114'5" good for third place, while adding a tenth place in the shop Put.
Justin Kaminski was 8th overall in the 100 meter dash in a field of 76 runners.
Kris Gendron notched a 12th in the 110 hurdles and a 7th in the 300 meter hurdles.
Jonah Lopez ran to a 17th place finish in a crowded field of 77 athletes in the 200 meters.
Caden Perry was 14th in the100meter dash.
The 4x100 meter team of Justin Kaminski, Jonah Lopez, Caden Perry, and Sean Leahy was 7th.

Goffstown Track & Field at Milford
On Tuesday (4/16) the Track & Field team traveled to Milford for a five team meet. The boys finished a strong fourth, while the girls were fifth.

The GHS Track & Field team traveled to the Pelham Invitational on Saturday. The Goffstown Boys scored 26 points to tie for 8th place in a 20 team field. While the Girls did not score, but had many strong performances.
Leading the way was Sean Leahy who placed second in the 400 meter dash and third in the long jump. Both marks qualified Sean for the State Division II Championship Meet.
Freshmen Peyton Strickland and Will Sasso also qualified for the DII meet. Peyton Placed third in the Discus and sixth in the Shot Put with excellent distances for a freshmen. While Will placed 4th in the 330 meter hurdles in his first race. Toby Halpern placed 6th in the difficult triple jump competitioin, while Aaron Duval made the final finishing 8th.
Strong races were turned in by Justin Kaminski, Caden Perry, Jenn Kulick, Steph Flegal, Paige Armstrong, Nick Dalton, Lil Fales, Connor Brown, Kris Gendron, Jelina Trost, Lisa Vickery, Ava Hansen, Jonah Lopez, and Joe McNeill. Throwers Vince Brigagliano, Max Young, and Adam Ziienkiewicz.
