In their season opener, the Goffstown Grizzlies JV Girls Basketball team put on a clinic demonstrating team play. On their journey to a 50-19 victory over the Hollis-Brookline Cavaliers, eleven players contributed in the points column. The Grizzlies were efficient on the offensive end of the court, averaging 0.86 points per possession and shooting 39.6% from the floor. Sophomores Kaillee Still and Emma Strong were leading scorers, with eight points each. Adrianna Cartier (Freshman) netted six points, going a perfect four for four from the charity stripe and adding in one field goal to round out her night.
The Grizzlies had a solid defensive effort by all. Solid help defense led to only allowing Hollis-Brookline nine attempts in the paint, and Goffstown closed out possessions with 26 defensive rebounds, while the Cavaliers were only able to wrangle 8 offensive boards. As a result, the Grizzlies only allowed two second chance points.
With game one under their belts, the Grizzlies continue to prepare for a tough two weeks before the Holidays.
