The softball Grizzlies opened up the post season today at home facing the 15 seeded Oyster River Bobcats. Seniors Emma Campbell and Anna Strong split the mound duties combining to issue a one hitter that included five strikeouts and a walk. Additionally the Lady Grizzlies had outstanding defense, the most notable was a double play in right field by Senior Nicole Andersen to shut down a rally attempt by Oyster River. Clearly the story of the day was the Lady Grizzlies high powered offense against last years Division II, Softball Pitcher of the Year Kaitlyn Miller. Some of the offense included four singles by Junior Alyssa Lombardi, two doubles by Junior Amber Davis, a double and a single by Andersen, as well as a two run home run by Junior Taylor Gagnon. Goffstown would go on to win the game in a run rule in the bottom of the 5th inning when Junior Megan Purcell hit a walk off three run home run for the win. Goffstown advances to the quarterfinals this Saturday at home against Pembroke Academy.
