The Lady Grizzlies Varsity Basketball team played in the Nashua Chick Fil A Xmas Tournament during vacation week. Facing division opponents Milford in the first round the Lady Grizzlies came out strong, taking a 24-7 points advantage into the half. Facing a strong second half comeback performance by Milford the game was a lot closer than the first half indicated but the girls hung on for a win with the final score of 40-35. The Grizzlies were led by Kelly Walsh with 19 points and Ali Larochelle with 8. The key stat however was the 11-13 free throw performance by the team at 85%. In Game 2 the Lady Grizzlies went down to Nashua North by a score of 33-30. A low scoring  game due to the weather related 8:30am start time! Kelly Walsh again led the team with 19 points while Olivia Brannen chipped in with 6 points and multiple assists. Playing in the 3rd/4th place game the girls faced a tough, physical Nashua South team and took the win by a score of 48-40. In this game the points came from a total team effort with 8 different girls getting on the scoreboard. Kelly Walsh again led all scorers with 14; Sofia Piriz went for 9; Ali Larochelle and Kasey Britton-Doucette each had 6 with Cami Durham, Jess Edmonds, Olivia Brannen and Alexa Minnich all getting their points. Overall the Xmas week tournament was a great success for the Girls Basketball Program, highlighted by Kelly Walsh being named to the All Tournament Team. The Lady Grizzlies next play at home going against Pembroke Academy on January 4th at 6:30pm.
