Goffstown came out on top in their opening game of the 2016 Division I state JV Tournament at Londonderry High School by topping #8 seeded Nashua South 5 to 4 in 7 innings. Clay Campbell earned the win for the Grizzlies tossing 5 strong innings of 2 hit baseball while striking out 7, walking 3 and allowing 1 run. Carter Chouinard earned the save for the Grizzlies throwing 1 inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.

The Grizzlies struck early when Carter Chouinard doubled in the bottom of the 1st inning and was later driven home by a Nick Labrie groundout. The Grizzlies scored again in the 3rd when Mitchell Scacchi singled, stole a base and then scored on a Justin Pinard single to right. The Grizzlies scored 3 times in the 4th inning to take a 5 to 0 lead led with hits by Nolan Guillemette (single), Clay Campbell (RBI single), Will Soucy (single) and Mitchell Scacchi (2 RBI double). Nashua South scored 1 in the 4th in Campbells final inning of work and then 3 in the 6th inning to make it a 5 to 4 1 run game but Chouinard shut them down in the 7th to secure the win.
