The Lady Grizzlies traveled to Hanover on Tuesday May 2 to face the 2016 D2 champs, the Hanover Marauders. The Marauders took an early lead at 4-0 just ten (10) minutes into the first period before the Grizzlies got on the board. After some adjustments the Grizzlies were able to trade goals and keep the Marauders to a 4 goal lead at halftime with a score of 8-4. In the second period, the Grizzlies struck first making it 8-5; however, 2 quick goals by Hanover in the next minute and a half advanced their lead to 10-5. The Grizzlies managed to hold Hanover at bay for more than six minutes after that and closed the gap to 4 again however, both teams continued to trade goals as the remainder of the second half ticked down. The Grizzlies finished the game on a high note with a buzzer beater by Alyssa Bourque with 2 seconds on the clock. Final Score: Hanover 15  Goffstown 9.
The Grizzlies scoring came from Alyssa Bourque (3) Chloe Smith (2) Charlotte Bausha (1) Ali Larochelle (1) Alexa Minnich (1) and Monique Sirois (1). Goalie Kersten Daneau recorded an amazing 24 saves and kept the Grizzlies in the fight. Grizzlies defense remained steadfast in their effort to cause the Marauders to turn over the ball and give the offense an opportunity to score. The Grizzlies are now at 2-5 after coming off losses to Winnacunnet and D1 powerhouse, Souhegan over the April school vacation. The Grizzlies next face Merrimack Valley at home on Thursday May 4th at 4pm.
