The Grizzlies girls' basketball program opened it's 2018-2019 season with 2 wins over the Londonderry High School Lancers last night.
The Junior Varsity Grizzlies combined for a strong team effort. All players added points to the board in a 48–21 victory. Freshmen Noelle Simmons and Elizabeth Bausha led all scorers with 16 and 11 points respectively. The team played stifling defense, allowing no more than eight points in any quarter and holding Londonderry to two points in the final set.
In the varsity match-up Goffstown took a 10 point lead into halftime and never looked back. Kelly Walsh's 16 points led all scorers in the game, Emma Strong chipped in with 8 points, and Elena Topouzoglou added 6 in the win. Shannon Gifford and Livi Brannen controlled the boards for Grizzlies and a suffocating team defense that allowed only 9 points at the half paced the visitors to a 42-28 win in their first Division 1 contest.
