New England Championship Meet

The boys 4 by 100 meter relay team raced against competition from all over New England on Saturday, June 10th.

Against this highly select field of the thirty six teams from the six state region, GHS placed 27th in a very strong time.

This outstanding relay team is:

Meet of Champions

The boys 4 by 100 meter relay team raced against competition from all divisions on Saturday, June 2nd.

Against this elite field of runners GHS placed 6th and qualified for the New England Championship meet.

The team also broke the school record for this relay with a blistering time of 44.72 seconds.

The record setting relay team is:

Division II Championship Meet

The Track & Field team competed in the Division II Championship Meet at Kennett High School on Saturday.

In the opening ceremony both Sean Leahy and Andrew Duval were named to the DII All-State Team.

Andrew Duval place sixth in the 100 meter dash. Andrew was also sixth in the long jump and sixteenth in the triple jump.

Brandon St.Onge was thirteenth on the 200. Brandon placed sixth tin the triple jump and fourteenth in the long jump.

Sean Leahy placed fourth in the 400 meters.

Evan Cuddy finished eleventh in the shot put.

Julianna Trost was fifteenth in the 300 meter hurdles.

The 4 by 100 relay team of Sean Leahy, Justin Kaminski, Brandon St.Onge, and Andrew Duval, competed by were DQed on an out of zone pass.

Freshman Joe Lambert did not place as only five athletes cleared the opening height.

R.E.A.L. Londonderry Invitational

R.E.A.L. Londonderry Invitational

 

The GHS Track & Field team completed their regular season at the R.E.A.L. Londonderry Invitational. In an outstanding field of top athletes from divisions I & II, Goffstown performed very well.

Sean Leahy made an outstanding run in the 400 meters, winning his heat in 52.14 and placing fifthe.

Andrew Duval placed sixth in the 100 meters tying his school record with a time of 11.43 seconds.

Joe Lambert leaped 5’8” to place fifth in the high jump.

Triple jumpers Andrew Duval and Brandon St.Onge placed fifth and eighth overall. Andrew was also tenth in the long jump. Brandon was ninth in the 200 meters.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Sen Leahy, Justin Kaminski, Brandon St.Onge and Andrew Duval placed fifth despite a bad pass.

The lone Goffstown girl in the meet, Julianna Trost, finished fifteenth in the 300 meter hurdles.

Also competing were Evan Cuddy in the shot put, Brandon St.Onge in the long jump and Sean Leahy in the long jump and 100 meters.

Clipper Relays

GHS Track & Field travelled to Portsmouth on Thursday for the Clipper Relays. The Boys had a particularly successful evening as the jumpers led the team to a sixth-place finish in a 25 team field.

Finishing second was the Long Jump team of Sean Leahy, Andrew Duval, and Brandon St.Onge with a total of 58’5.25” in jumps. The High jump team of Joe Lambert, Jon Teixeira, and Sean Leahy finished fourth, as did the triple jump relay of Brandon St. Onge, Sean Leahy, and Justin Kaminski.

The 4x200m relay of Jon Teixeira, Justin Kaminski, Brandon St.Onge and Andrew Duval was eleventh. The girls 4x100 team of Ava Hansen, Caylin Boutilette, Paige Armstrong and Julianna Trost finished seventeenth. The shot put relay finished eighth with Evan Cuddy, Andrew Duval, and Max Young throwing. The 4x800 team of Joe Jackson, Joe McNeil, Ty Gallagher, and Connor Brown was fifteenth. The 4x400 relay with Paige Armstrong, Ava Hansen, Julianna Trost, and Ali Vermette placed fifteenth. Finally the Discus relay of Evan Cuddy, Max Young and Adam Zienkiewicz finished fourteenth.

Merrimack Valley Invitational 4/21/2018

The Track & Field teams travelled to the huge Merrimack Valley Invitational on Saturday.

The meet was highlighted by Andrew Duval breaking the GHS record in the 100 meter sprint with a time of 11.43 seconds in the preliminary heat. He went on to place second in the finals by just one one-hundredth of a second.

Placing second was the 4x100 relay team of Jon Teixeira, Justin Kaminski, Sean Leahy and Andrew Duval.

Sean Leahy was fourth in the 400 in a time of 53.54, and then fourth again in the long jump. Evan Cuddy finished sixth overall with a throw of 38’11.5” and was ninth in the discus. Max Young PRed in the shot with a toss of 28’5.5” and Ali Vermette ran to thirteenth in the 400 with a time of 66.64. Julianna Trost finished eleventh in the 300 meter hurdles, while Jon Teixeira was ninth in the 100 meter dash. Kris Gendron placed tenth in the 300 meter hurdles.

GHS at the Pelham Invitational

The GHS Track & Field teams opened their seasons at the Pelham Invitational. In a huge field of thirty teams the Goffstown Boys placed 11th. Despite cold condition many GHS athletes posted personal best performances with several qualifying for the State Meet. Many events boasted close to 100 entrants.

Leading the way for the boys was Andrew “Dashing” Duval sprinting to victory in the 100 meters by the narrow margin of just one 100th of a second. Both Sean Leahy and Brandon St.Onge won their prelims with Sean finishing sixth in the finals. Sean added a third in the 400 meters and a sixth in the long jump. Brandon Both long and triple jumped, as did Justin Kaminski.

Evan Cuddy PRed in the shot put as did Duval, who also long jumped. Throwers Max Young (shot and Disc) and Adam Zienkowitz (discus) produced solid early season performances.

The distance crew of Connor Brown and Ty Gallagher in the 1600, and Joe Jackson in the 3200 raced to early season PRs. Ryan Osborne ran the 110 meter high hurdles.

 

On the girls’ side, senior Julianna Trost sprinted to a 67. In the 400 meters, good for thirteenth place overall. Julianna also triple jumped. Paige Armstrong raced the 300 meter hurdles, while Ava Hanson and Caylin Boutilette ran both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Megan Lambert looked good in the triple jump placing 14th, and Alli Vermette ran well in the 800 meters.

Sanborn Meet 5/1/2018

At Sanborn the GHS boys finished second and the girls seventh in eight team fields.

Steph Flegal had good races in both hurdles, and Kris Gendron place in both of his hurdles races. Sean Leahy ran a strong third place in the 400. Bandon St.Onge won the 100, and was second in the long jump and the 200, while freshman Jon Teixeira was forth. Ali Vermette ran a strong 400 while Julianna Trost sprinted to a fifth place in the 300 hurdles. Joe Lambert won the high jump with a leap of 5’8” with Jon Teixeira right behind him in second. Evan Cuddy picked up a third in the shot put, with Ty Gallagher adding a fourth in the 3200.
